Exploring Soils: A living treasure

One of the key parts of my research topic is to emphasize the importance of soil, particularly the one tucked away in our city parks and gardens.Research in this area is very much needed as it represents only 1% of all soil studies.

I participated in the Research Based Curricula project with AccessEd to increase the exposure of soil science content in schools and engage students in this topic from an early age.

I created a coursebook that enables kids aged 11-14 to get a chance to discover with Dr. Wormsley, the earthworm: what soil is made up of, how it is formed, the creatures that live in it, and just how important it is in our everyday lives.

This project was supported by the University of Reading.
